I was only in my twenties. I think I would have preferred knowing none of them. Sounds like you were a good choice for foreperson. joaredhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09999395062839739698noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356815487392618550.post-38265100916695492052017-06-20T12:56:38.722-07:002017-06-20T12:56:38.722-07:00You had to be the best qualified. Our jury foreman was a pizza delivery guy in his mid twenties and he was brilliant. The verdict rested on the layout of the city and no one knew it better than he did. We almost had a hung jury though. The lone hold out was clinging to the idea our decision had racial bias. It wasn't even close to that and we finally convinced him that wasn't true so he joined us in our verdict. We found the defendant guilty on one of 3 charges. I am now considered too old to serve. Enjoy it while you can.Arkansas Pattihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14156004753267665579noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356815487392618550.post-75771194602034572422017-06-20T09:36:46.220-07:002017-06-20T09:36:46.220-07:00Dear Linda, thank you for sharing this experience ...Dear Linda, thank you for sharing this experience with us. As I said in the comment I left on your previous posting, I've never done jury duty so it is of great interest to me. As the foreperson, did you have to use your forte--mediation? I bet the others were glad you were with them in that deliberation room. Once I also said I couldn't give a fair verdict about a person who was driving drunk, to me she was already guilty. I was dismissed. The only time I did what you did, serve for several days, it was a disgruntled relative who tried to make it seem the defendant was guilty, when it was obvious to me she wasn't. Only one person disagreed when we were able to talk about it all! I learned a lot from the process, as it seems you did, too. :-)DJanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07152183871573797791noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356815487392618550.post-357625144204600272017-06-19T17:37:42.388-07:002017-06-19T17:37:42.388-07:00Another interesting list of lessons learned! The second was a mistrial because the judge got sick. I have been called many times, but at that point I had a son-in-law in law enforcement, and that got me rejected. <br />In my experience, I was impressed, and aggravated, by how controlled the evidence was. I wanted to know more.
