Snow, finally

I've been reading all winter about bloggers who are snowed in, sick of the stuff, wishing it were spring. I've been jealous of every one of you! We did get to some snow, during a weeklong visit to Idaho near Yellowstone. Four feet when we got there, another foot the next day. But then we came home before it even started to melt.

The Puget Sound is finally having a Snow Event today and tomorrow - fairly unusual for February, I hear. I stuck close to home today and watched the weather posts, hoping. Finally, at 5 p.m., the famous Convergence Zone formed up, and within 15 minutes it was snowing all over Seattle and environs.

We have less than an inch on the ground, but already I can hear the silence that descends in this weather, when you can't hear the freeway sounds from three miles away, and when most people pull into their driveways and spend the time at home, either enjoying the break or outside scraping a snowman together. I hear we may get three to six inches of snow tonight. I love that! It will be followed by a hard freeze, so we'll have multiple accidents tomorrow and Friday during the commute. We just don't get a lot of practice driving in these conditions, and we've got lots of hills and banked turns.

I think I'd like to spend a winter someplace where it snows. We have the possibility of a home exchange in Fairfield, Iowa. Or we can take up the invitation of friends who have a condo in Ogunquit, Maine, who say we can spend the winter there if we pay the utilities. I'm not a skiier - the first time on skis, back when I was 23, I broke my leg, and I haven't done much more of it, because I'm afraid to turn and I'm afraid to fall. But I tried snowshoeing in Idaho, and it was peaceful and fun and aerobic, so that's what I'd probably want to do.

For those of you who are sick of winter, I hope spring comes to your area soon and melts all the snow. For me, I'd like some more of it before the end of winter.

We went to the grocery store about ten this morning and then set in to wait for the snow. We had a little, very little, around 1:30 and that's all we've seen. We'll see what the morning brings.

That storm system is just getting here. We have a sprinkling of snow on the ground. I have the opposite wish from you. I would like to spend the winter where it is warm and I could swim every day. I hope you get all the snow you want. Maybe the system will dump it all in your area and it will bypass us in the east!

We had a heavy snow shower about 12:30 today, but it's all gone. I'm hoping for NO more. I'm ready to leave winter behind.

Spring is when we get some of our worse snow storms in Colorado. We can just about count on them in March. It always seems so strange when it happens.

I like the mild weather in Southern Colorado. It is not too cold in the winter. We have some snow, but not enough to stop us for long. We still get the four seasons, so all in all, I find it quite enjoyable.

Well we got popped again as you may see but somehow its nicer with a blue sky and temps in the 30's right after. If you have to get the tractor out though, its work!

Glad you are enjoying yours. Try to stay off the roads then. Stay safe!!

We even had a week of snow in Atlanta. I'm glad it's gone.

I hear you, Linda! I am missing it here in Florida, and it's now time to head to the pool for some lap swims. I could live here in the winter!

My pain is your joy!!! Enjoy your $%*$)*% snow. Anytime you want our cottage in northern Wisconsin let me know. You only need two weeks worth of groceries stock piled, and gas in the generator to keep the heat on; a strong back to shovel your way out, heavy clothes that hamper your movement. All kidding aside those first snow falls in Wisconsin are exciting, its just getting old. Now go out and make a snowman. Its good for the soul, make sure you post a picture.

Since we are in Vermont from April through December, we see plenty of it. It's pretty on Christmas cards and fine for skiing enthusiasts.
Personally, I have had my lifetime fill of the stuff.

Ogunquit is a great little town, on the ocean. Cool library, great houses, shops, etc. You might like it. Portland not too far away for a bit of city life. It's not the snow that loses its charm for me, its those steel gray skies....

It's nice to know someone enjoys this season!:-)

It's been snowing off and on for two days here, but most of it is gone now. We're left with bitter cold and I'm feeling a strong urge to hibernate!

Snow sure is prettier than the gray and dirty ground this time of year here. But I'm seeing signs of some green popping up. Thanks for the spring wishes Linda...you keep safe out there.

The heavy rain is enough for me. I don't need any more weather woes. I'm vacationing in Southern Cal. and tonight they are all exciting at the prospect of snow at 500 feet. I suppose the calm and peaceful landscape is a beauty to behold. But, not for too long. Somehow, groceries need to be bought, etc.
Enjoy your winter wonderland for a few days.
