In the sky again

I believe I have overscheduled myself for traveling this summer:

In May I flew to Tucson for three days to go to my Mexican dentist.

In June we took a road trip to Oregon for a five-day family gathering.

In July I flew to Toronto to spend five days with a friend in cottage country two hours north of the city.

Today I am flying to Buffalo via Boston with a friend for a week at the Chautauqua Institution. The theme? "The Future of Cities."

On August 20 I'm flying to Athens via Paris to work for a week as a volunteer for a refugee camp an hour north of Athens.

On September 9th we're flying to Rockland, Maine via Boston for our seventh cruise on the Schooner Heritage.

But there's not a single trip I didn't want to take.

The worst part is the early morning flights.  I got up at 3:30 this morning after just a couple hours of sleep. And the time change will be bothersome for a couple of days. Still, I am excited about what I'll be learning and doing over the next week.  It's my first time at Chautauqua. It will be my first time in Greece. The other summer travel places I've been to before.

I will be 68 in September and I know I won't be able to do this forever. Why not now?

Why not, indeed? Love your zest for life, Linda. :-)

Wow. That is a lot of traveling - and having fun. Travel like that can really play havoc with your internal rest schedule. I find I get out of wack and want to rest and go at the same time. My body wants to do one thing but my mind wants the other. Hahaha. Such a fun problem to have.

I hate traveling and am not good with it. When I get off a plane there'd better be a beach.
But you are right, do what you want to do while you can do it. Enjoy!

Absolutely, why not!
But you are not only traveling. You are also learning and serving. Very admirable.

What an exciting time you have ahead! Enjoy! You will roll with the time changes,etc.. your excitement and joy will keep you energized! I can't wait to hear about all your adventures.I feel the same way--at 63, we have made a slow start to some of the retirement adventures my husband had planned..and I am chomping at the bit a little--so I'm planning a few things on my own! We will slow down later..gotta do it now!! BON VOYAGE!!

Exactly! Why not now. Enjoy, do everything you want to do and are able to do for as long as you can.

Goodness you don't even need to unpack. That would drive me crazy but as you said, enjoy it while you can. I may need to look up your Mexican Dentist. Need some work done and a friend has just as nice an experience as you did. I'm sold.

That is ambitious and I applaud you for undertaking all these travels.

Oh, my goodness, Linda! This is all just fantastic -- connecting with friends, volunteering, enjoying time on a cruise with your husband! I so agree with the concept "If not now, when?" I've seen so many neighbors here decline in health so much, in just a few years, that they're no longer able to travel. So doing all you want to do now makes perfect sense, even if those early morning flights are exhausting! You can do this -- and good for you! You're an inspiration!

Looking forward to reading all about your visit. About early morning flights - the only concession I have made to advancing years is to take later flights. Sleep is precious!

You go girl. You are young and full of dreams and ambitions. You would not be you if you were not looking for what is around the next corner. I thought I had over scheduled the early part of the summer, but I don't hold a candle to you. I would love to go work in a refugee camp. I was thinking of that last night. I'm looking forward to reading all about it!
