It is what it is

My hip replacement surgery, scheduled for tomorrow (August 18) at Kaiser Permanente in downtown Seattle, required a number of things to be done first: a dental checkup, a physical exam, a covid test, an online learning course, designation of a caregiver, and no anti-inflammatory medications for the seven days before. I did all of those things. The toughest has been doing without a medication that did much to relieve the joint pain.

This morning I was awakened by a call from Kaiser. "Your surgery has been cancelled because we have no beds available. The will be, instead, on Friday, at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue. They will be contacting you."

I'm waiting for that call.

Life happens, you know!

Oh no. Are you silently swearing at the unvaccinated?
I was worried about that happening for my spine surgery last July and my hip replacement in January. Fortunately I was accommodated by KP at Swedish in July and had day surgery for my hip in January, no overnight bed needed.
Hang in there.

Dang! You were so close. But it will happen, it seems, just not where you thought. I'm wishing you well in whatever place the surgery is performed.

This is so disheartening. I wish you complete success on your reschedule!

Oh, that must have been a disappointment. I hope that everything will go smoothly from here on out.

All thanks to COVID no doubt. I do hope that you are able to get this done soon and you get relief from the pain.

I am so sorry! I worry about car crashes, bike accidents, and etc with no beds available. Wishing you all the best.

Sorry this has happened to you, must be frustrating. I haven't pursued some possible medical procedures for myself as I anticipated what you are experiencing would likely occur.

COVID! Argggh. At least it's still going on. I am in Washington too and am becoming increasingly concerned about getting care for my elderly mother (or myself) if I need it.
